I
wish to welcome you to the membership information section
of our web site. As Membership Director for the Valley of
Kansas City, it is important to me that you receive accurate
and complete information on how to become a member. In general,
membership is open to any Master Mason residing within the
Kansas City (Missouri) area and surrounding counties.
If you are not yet a Master Mason, I encourage you to view
the information available at www.momason.org,
the web site of the Grand Lodge of Missouri.
Freemasonry
serves mankind by bringing all men to meet on the level,
recognizing that there is but one True and Living God. We
make no requirements as to your method of worshiping God,
as we are not a religion to compete with your own faith.
On the contrary, we recognize that there are many methods
by which a man can celebrate his relationship with the Supreme
Architect of the Universe. By meeting each other with that
understanding, we are able to share in the gifts He has
given us all--love of brothers, relief of the distressed,
and the light of truth--without the concerns of differing
faiths and dogmas. Quite simply, we meet as subjects of
God with a common purpose and leave the rest behind.
The
Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite builds upon the first
three degrees which are received in a local "Blue Lodge."
The 4th through 32nd degrees continue the educational process
with further instruction in the values and lessons taught
in the first three degrees, but in an advanced, theatrical
format which delves deeper into both ancient and modern
beliefs and philosophies. The Scottish Rite presents each
degree based upon historical legends ranging from the time
of Ancient Egypt up to the Chivalric Middle Ages. Each lesson
is rich with symbols and morals which can serve an eager
mind in finding a path towards becoming a better man. For
this reason, the Scottish Rite is often called the "University
of Freemasonry."
Does
that mean all we do is cloister ourselves and study myths
and legends? Not at all! The Valley of Kansas City is organized
so that there is something for everyone, regardless of your
interests! If you're interested in anything from cooking
to theater arts, we've got something sure to pique your
interest. . . .

As
you can see, the Kansas City Scottish Rite has something
for everyone. Plus, every crew, committee, and activity
comes with the companionship and teamwork of the Brethren
you work with. To that end, the vast area of the Scottish
Rite Valley of Kansas City seems to draw together providing
kinship and community--reflecting a tight brotherhood dating
back over 100 years.
We
appreciate your interest in the Scottish Rite. If you have
any questions on Freemasonry or the Scottish Rite, please
feel free to contact us at membership@scottishrite-kcmo.org
or call the Valley Office. The web sites offering information
on Scottish Rite Freemasonry are too numerous to mention,
but be aware few are accurate. Our ideals have long been
misunderstood or misinterpreted, so we encourage you to
visit with a Brother Mason with any questions you may have.
If you are ready to become a Freemason or take the next
step into the Scottish Rite, just ask!
Sincerely
and Fraternally,
Kansas
City Valley Membership Chairman
