The regular meeting of the Clay-Platte Scottish Rite Club was opened in proper form at 7:00 pm on September 17, 2007 by President Ron Hewitt, with prayer by the Chaplain, Virden Daugherty, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag. There were 13 members, 10 ladies and 1 guest present.

Guest Speaker: Mrs. Susan Brown, Chairman of Concerned Citizens for Platte County [CCPC] indicated their purpose was to keep Platte County air, water and land clean. She talked of their work with the Sierra Club for ‘clean coal’ and for energy legislation for efficient coal, gas and fuel in general as well as health ordinances relative to cattle, hogs, fowl, etc. She left a copy of their September, 2007 newsletter for us.

Sickness: Brother Richard L. Burgen died September 7, 2007. Mrs. Jennifer Lee Padley McGiure daughter of Jack and Norma Padley died September 14, 2007.

Minutes:
The Minutes of the August 20, 2007 meeting were approved as published. The Treasurer reported an August 20 balance of $510.00. Charity donations in the amount of $325 were received and a like amount expended for a closing balance of $510.00. The report was accepted as presented.

Old Business: The President announced that a new national flag would be in place over the main entrance to the Valley’s temple building.

New Business: We were pleased to welcome Rafael R Rodriquiz and his wife Rosa. He has petitioned the valley for membership.

Remarks: The membership was reminded of the club’s picnic on October 13. Brother Tony Robbins spoke on “The Real Freemason”. Lodge and Valley activities were noted, as were degree cast rehearsals, the Reunion October 5 and 6 and the regular dinner meeting in September.

The meeting was closed in regular form at 7:55 pm.

Dues for 2007 in the amount of $15.00 are now payable. Dues can be mailed directly to the Treasurer; OR BETTER turn them in when you attend the next meeting! If you are not sure of your dues status, check with the Treasurer.

Speaker: The speaker for September will be Mrs. Shawn Garland, Director of Hillcrest Transitional Housing
for Clay County.
