Sickness:
Brother Howard Yingling was reported to be having problems
with equilibrium; brother Tim Hampton, a member of Rising Sun Lodge
#13 has suffered Kidney Failure and is in North Kansas City Hospital
for dialysis treatments; brother Lawrence Dicer was reported ill with
kidney problems; brother Richard Harrison, 32°, KCCH and brother
of Ted Harrison is reported with gastric and liver problems; Ill. Brother
Gary Barron, 33° was reported as out of the hospital and doing very
well after a triple by-pass last week. Our president asked for a moment
of silence in memory of Ill. Brother Robert Miller who passed away after
a battle with cancer and infection on May 4th. Cards will be sent by
the secretary.
Minutes: The Minutes of the April 21, 2008 meeting were approved
as presented.
Treasurers Report: Due in part to an increasingly heavy
work schedule, the president accepted, with regret, the resignation
of Cody Hines as club Treasurer. By order of the president, the secretary
will assume the duties of treasurer until elections in December. By
Ron’s request the mailing address of the club will be the same
as the Temple, 1330 Linwood Blvd. Kansas City, MO 64109. Brother Hewitt
reported from memory that the checking account contained $647.00 (actually,
the account has $675.33 as of last week) we hope his memory continues
to improve. Checks have been ordered for the account and once received,
a check for $50.00 for the CLDC, which was approved in April, will be
written.
Old Business: Brother Kevin spoke on the Clean-up that was
performed at the Temple in April by, for the most part, the Clay-Platte
Club members. Special recognition was given to the Ladies who gave up
their Saturday to work on cleaning up the kitchen and organizing the
dinnerware we use each month. Kevin also will inspect the Flag to see
if replacement is needed and has agreed to examine the lights that illuminate
the temple columns which we agreed to maintain back in 2006.
New Business: Brother Steve Heflin spoke on the Knights
of St. Andrew and encouraged all 32 degree members of the club to join
the group that is reorganizing in the Valley. Brother Hewitt also announced
a first rehearsal for the 13° to be held on June 5th at his home.
At 37 members present,
we are almost at maximum capacity in our current location. Discussions
have been had with Tommy’s about setting up the room so to allow
more seating but that does not appear possible. Brother Hampton announced
that the club would go dark at Tommy’s for June and July and meet
instead at Paul & Jack’s Grill in North Kansas City. The options
at Paul and Jack’s are plentiful and the seating in the room we
are looking at can easily handle 60 people without crowding. The food
is great and the prices are as well. After our July meeting we will
decide as a group where our future meetings will be held.
Remarks: Our Blue Plate Special drawing generated $37.00
this month for charity. Our winner: Danielle Woehrman.
The meeting was closed in regular form at 9:30 pm
Dues for 2008 in the amount of $15.00 are now
