The regular meeting of the Clay-Platte Scottish Rite Club was opened in proper form at 7:10 pm on June 16, 2008 by President Kevin Hampton, with prayer by the Chaplain, Virden Daugherty, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag. There were 17 members, 11 ladies and 2 guests present.

Guest Speakers: Brother Strady Anastos spoke on the computer project he is heading up. He currently has a major donation of hardware and software from the Kansas City Kansas Chamber of Commerce as well as a space at the Valley where the systems can be stored and built. It is Strady’s objective to see that every brother who would like to use a computer has one and the training to go along with it.

He also suggested that if the supply holds up he would like to approach schools and offer systems to children who need them.

Brother Steve Heflin spoke on the Knights of St. Andrew. Their Knighting Ceremony will be July 23rd in the Temple Auditorium. The Knights of Saint Andrew is open for full membership to all 32° Masons. KCCH and 33° may join but cannot vote or hold office in the order. Brother Steve will serve as the Venerable Master and Brother Strady will be the Senior Warden.

Sickness:
Brother Howard Yingling was reported to be having problems still and needs our prayers. Tammy Harrison is having rotator cuff surgery. Brother Don King was recovering at home after a stay in the hospital for breathing problems.

Minutes:
The Minutes of the May 19, 2008 meeting were approved as presented.

Treasurers Report: The treasurer reported that the club account had $613.52 at the end of May and that $220.50 of that was raised by our Blue Plate Specials each month for charity. It was also reported that the Flag for the Temple was purchased and was to be hung on Flag Day.

Old Business:
Our President spoke on the condition of the lighting on the outside of the Temple that illuminates the columns. All but 3 of the fixtures and lights need replacing and he has secured the fixtures at no charge. The lights will be replaced with the low volt florescent floods since they have lasted over two years. The members were also reminded that this was a project the club agreed to adopt in 2006 along with the annual flag replacement.

New Business: Brother Hewitt spoke about the St. John’s Day proclamation from the Grand Lodge of Kansas and the celebration that will be taking place on June 22nd at the Lenexa United Methodist Church for all Freemasons. He also reminded everyone of the upcoming Ducks Family Picnic to be held on June 21st at Bill Dean Sr. Home.

Remarks: Our Blue Plate Special drawing generated $25.50 this month for charity. Our winner: Strady Anastos. The meeting at Paul and Jack’s went very well and the waitress made everything flow for our group. We will meet there again in July.

The meeting was closed in regular form at 9:10 pm

Dues for 2008 in the amount of $15.00 are now payable. Dues can be mailed directly to the Treasurer; OR BETTER turn them in when you attend the next meeting! If you are not sure of your dues status, check with the Treasurer.
