The regular meeting of the Clay-Platte Scottish Rite Club was opened at 7:20 pm by President Ron Hewitt in proper form on July 16, 2007, with prayer by the Chaplain, Virden Daugherty, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag. There were 15 members, 15 ladies and 6 guests present. There were four couples from the Raytown Scottish Rite Club present.

Guest Speakers: The speakers for the evening were Brother Kevin Hampton and Brother Tony Robbins. Kevin spoke about “What the Brother Desires”, a series of statements relative to what members of the fraternity desire and/or expect from their experiences in Masonry. The statements were divided in two parts, ‘From the Young Ones’ and ‘From the Elders’. Brother Robbins spoke on the differences in the Blue Lodge and the Rite and why ritual was more important to the Blue Lodge degrees.

Sickness: Ill. Brother Gary Barron, 33º is recovering from knee replacement at home. Mrs. Rita Moss [Larry] will have surgery July 17th at North Kansas City Hospital.

Minutes: The Minutes of the June 18, 2007 meeting were approved as published. There was no Treasurer’s report, however the President and the Secretary did not know of any expenses.

Old Business: The President reported that in addition to our donation to Kiowa Lodge of $100.00 a collection of $100.00 was taken at our last Valley dinner meeting and a grant from the Valley Almoner of $500.00 was forwarded to the Lodge.

New Business: There was no new business presented.

Remarks: Lodge and Valley activities were noted. The President thanked the Raytown Club members for their attendance. He ask that all present introduce themselves. He also introduced David Woehrman as the newest and youngest Master Mason present.

The meeting was closed in regular form at 7:50 pm.

Dues for 2007 in the amount of $15.00 are now payable. Dues can be mailed directly to the Treasurer; OR BETTER turn them in when you attend the next meeting! If you are not sure of your dues status, check with the Treasurer.

Speaker: The speaker at the August meeting is Mrs. Sharon Hunt who is the Youth Specialist and County Program Director for the University of Missouri Extension in Platte County. Her specialties include 4-H Youth programs. Several members of the Club have worked with Sharon and can attest to her expertise..
